About my research

I work at the intersection of materials science, cell biology, and clinical medicine. My lab's overarching mission is simple to state but difficult to achieve: to build functional substitutes for human tissues that fail, and to create realistic human tissue models that help us understand and treat diseases better.

Current research challenge

I am trying to bridge the gap between bench and bedside—by building better materials, better disease models, and better delivery systems, while keeping affordability and accessibility at the core of everything we do.

Can we test cosmetics without using animals?

We can reliably test cosmetics without animals by using 3D bioprinted human skin substitutes that replicate human biology, making testing more ethical, accurate, and predictive.
