About my research

A Basic Biologist trained at Madurai Kamaraj University, IIT Madras, University of Cologne and University of Florida. Curious on exploring the microbial world and beleives microbes will provide solutions for all problems. Also involved in outreach activities. Works primarily on microbiome and One Health Our Chemomicrobiomics laboratory is focused on understanding the interaction between the chemicals (phytochemicals, elements, pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, pollutants, etc.,) and microbes (bacteria, virus, fungi, protozoa, etc.,) in different environments (human body, water, soil, air, etc.,) and its implications on One Health. Subsequently, transfer of these basic knowledge for development of microbial technology-based products like biosensors, bioremediation, bioengineering and microbiota based diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for diseases.

Current research challenge

We are trying to understand the interaction between chemicals and microbiome in different environments in a One Health perspective and transfer of this knowledge to novel therapeutics for human diseases and ecological problems.
