About my research
My research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and law, with a focus on making lengthy Indian legal documents easier to understand and navigate. Legal judgments often contain many pages of factual background, arguments, precedents, legal reasoning, and decisions. For legal professionals, identifying the most important information within these documents can therefore be time-consuming. My work explores how computational methods can help address this challenge by automatically identifying the different rhetorical roles played by sections of a judgment and recognizing important legal entities within the text.
