About my research
My research interests are in mathematical biology and in population dynamics in particular. The current research work is devoted to present several mathematical models on the dynamics of marine plankton ecology, coral bleaching due to invasive predators and its recovery by harvesting of predators, hysteresis in coral reefs under macroalgal toxicity and overfishing, regime shifts in coral reefs, coral-macroalgal phase shift in the presence of elevated sea surface temperature (SST). We are investigating different behavioural patterns of grazer zooplankton to the infected phytoplankton in response to the chemical compounds released by infected cells. We propose and analyse some mathematical frameworks to study the bioaccumulation of anthropogenic contaminants in marine food chain and its consequences on terrestrial ecosystems. We also investigate the spatio-temporal model to incorporate the facts that the prey and predator populations perform active movements in the spatial directions for their biological relevance. We are working on Dual epidemics which have become a major threat to public health worldwide. The development of co-infection transmission models generated by qualitative features of observed disease patterns is an advantageous area for future research that has potential for substantial development in our ability to generate useful epidemic forecasts for public healthcare policy makers. We investigate Plant-pollinator interactions with special emphasis on Pollinator Resilience: A Systems Approach to Honey Bee Conservation under Environmental Stress in Agroecosystems.
