CDPMHM 2025
Composite materials have large scale commercial applications in marine applications, aerospace, automotive, boating, defense, sporting goods, infrastructure, energy storage, biomedical etc. In the recent years, the development of new and improved composites has caused unlimited product development opportunities. This workshop will cover three aspects of composites pertinent to aerospace:
- Recent advancements in the design aspect of composites.
- The processing and product development knowledge related to composites and finally.
- The condition monitoring of composites.
The design portion includes an explanation of the concepts involved in the detailed design analysis of composites, a sound explanation of the mechanics needed to translate concepts into a mathematical representation of the physical reality, and a detailed explanation of the solution of the resulting boundary value problems by using commercial Finite Element Analysis software such as ANSYS. Participants will be able to extend the capabilities of ANSYS by use of ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL). The participants will be equipped with manufacturing process and design analysis knowledge of composite materials. This course shall contain lecture and hands on sessions, which introduce basic manufacturing techniques for composite materials, mechanical testing of composites and their design through computer aidded engineering concepts.
