The 2nd Foundation Day of IIT Mandi

Two years ago, on 24^th Feb 2009, the Foundation Stone of IIT Mandi was laid in Kamand. The 2nd Foundation day celebrations ensued on 25^th February 2011 with fanfare and enthusiasm befitting the occasion. The entire IIT Mandi family came together to make this a memorable event. The Director, Prof. T A Gonsalves shared his vision to make IIT Mandi a global leader in cutting edge research design innovation and technology education. Prof. Dr. -Ing. Wolfram Ressel, Rector of Stuttgart University was the Chief Guest, addressed the gathering. Dr. David Phillips. Senior Advisor to Rector was also present in the function. Prof. Subrata Ray from the mentor institute, IIT Roorkee who had been present at laying of foundation stone in 2009, spoke at the event. While our young Institute was aspiring to reach for the stars, it was only apt that it was inspired by the presence of the distinguished guests from century old, world renowned institutions.

Many students, staff and faculty members were recognised and honoured for their contribution in the growth of the Institute. The entire IIT Mandi family visited the Kamand campus, the future site of the dream Institute. The First year B.Tech students entertained the gathering with their exuberant performances.
