About my research
My general expertise is in the area of photonics, with a specialization in fiber lasers, fiber sensors and lean optomechatronics. At IIT Mandi, I have established the Pratibimb Photonics Labs, where we focus on these three verticals of research. We have an ethos of 'Make in Mandi', developing diagnostic optomechatronics and electronics in-house using 3D printing and open source resources. In doing so, we are also giving back to the community by realization of such devices which cost a fraction of their off-the-shelf counterparts. In the long term, our goal is to develop bespoke optical sources and fiber optic sensors, that will offer solutions the pressing needs of our nation, spanning biomedical devices, metrology, structural health monitoring, and early warning systems.

Current research challenge
I am trying to indigenize the ecosystem that surrounds the diagnostics around fiber laser and fiber sensor systems using open source resources. This will greatly bring down establishment costs, and boost research in this area.
My Webinar competition entry
We need to rethink how we compute.
The conventional form of computing is hitting a wall. Photonic Computing might be an answer to break it.

Let's connect
Photonics is inherently interdisciplinary and is an enabling technology. Given this, I welcome collaborations from across disciplines.
