M.Tech. in Communications and Signal Processing
The program is designed giving importance to theory as well as exposure to industry needs. It consists of two parts: course work and a year long project. The course work is structured so as to givea solid theoretical foundation which would enable the student to tackle research as well as industry related problems.
The one year long project should be an industry sponsored project so that the students solve problems which are of relevance to product design. Examples from signal processing include video surveillance, medical diagnostic aids, consumer photography to list a few. The project is done inhouse, the problem definition and part of technical support comes from an industry or reputed government R&D laboratories.
In order to prepare the students for product development by the end of first year, we have included courses like Creative Engineering Design, Embedded Systems and Supervised Research Exposure. addition to the project, the course work contains a practicum component to expose the students to the system design aspects. For communication stream, this includes designing and evaluating systems with USRP and the signal processing stream will be designing systems using DSP processors for audio/image/video applications.
How is this program different?
- Industry partnered project.
- Courses selected so as to build a strong theoretical foundation.
- Courses like Creative engineering design. Embedded systems, Supervised research exposure to prepare the students for product development.
- (1,3) and (2) being complementary, would enable a student to branch out either to research or industry.
